Wellbeing for the Whole School Community

Newbold CofE Primary School > Parents > Wellbeing for the Whole School Community

Emotional health and mental wellbeing affect all aspects of our lives and health choices. Mental wellbeing is about feeling good and functioning well, as individuals and as communities. It is also about our ability to cope with life’s challenges and making the most of life’s opportunities.

Please find below a range of resources and websites that we have come across that may be helpful in supporting the mental wellbeing of both your child and your whole family.

We also know that talking to someone who is ready to listen can be the best kind of support so please do contact us with any concerns about a child’s, or your own, mental wellbeing. We are always here to listen and to give advice or support.

If you are part of any organisation or you have any experience that you feel may help us to support the wellbeing of the children and staff then do let us know.

School staff are available to support you and your child with any problems, queries or concerns you may have about your family or child.

Staff are available to be contacted daily to discuss matters such as;

  • Pastoral care concerns
  • Friendship issue
  • Early Help Support
  • Referrals to external agencies
  • Special Educational Needs queries and support
  • Support with medical needs
  • Online safety concerns

You can contact us on 01530 222318 to discuss any concerns you may have.

Karen Treisman discusses how we can support one another and how we can reach out.

This project equips children and young people and the adults around them with the awareness and skills to manage conflict between pupils. Young volunteers train as mediators and help younger children resolve their own disputes through a 5-step mediation process. This forms part of a broad and supportive cross-school programme of conflict resolution skills training. We continue to be inspired by how well this scheme works and each year celebrate the mediators’ voluntary efforts by inviting them to participate in a conference at one of the Sheffield Universities. Our experience has shown that the scheme works best when a whole school understands and reinforces the approach to conflict resolution.

Leicestershire County Council’s Family Help Service (previously known as Children and Family Wellbeing Service) was established in April 2019. Family Help provides early help services – these are services which may be offered at any point in a child or young person’s life, where the child is experiencing some difficulties which cannot be supported by universal services, such as schools or GP, alone.

There are many websites which will give you advice and support when dealing with an online safety issue and can guide you through how to start conversations with your child about tricky issues.
