The Little Ducklings Parent and Toddler group is continuing to be a great success, attracting both local families and people from further a-field. We are pleased to welcome three of the children from this group to our school this year.

We are officially still the smallest school in Leicestershire. The children are central to all we do at Newbold. We continue to provide a personalised approach that ensures that every single child is nurtured and valued.

Numbers this year have shown a slight increase compared to the beginning of last academic year, which we are very pleased about especially as we said goodbye to a large year group of six year six pupils!  We hope that our supportive environment and strong teaching team will attract more children who may benefit from the support (for more able children as well as those who require intervention) that we are able to provide to help them achieve their full potential.

The school is situated within the heart of the village. We aim to continue our strong links with the local community by providing a range of local events during the year. We plan to continue our monthly community lunch events, as well as a Christmas shopping night and Christmas carol singing.

Over the last year we have continued to build on our relationships with our parish church, St. Matthew’s Church, Worthington, as well as with the diocese of Leicester.  Being a church school we feel this has enriched our curriculum in many ways.  We will be celebrating our harvest festival at St. Matthew’s and later in the year our Christmas carol service will be held there also.

We were delighted to welcome the Ofsted inspector to our little school in March 2010 and were extremely pleased when we received the confirmation that we are a ‘good’ school.  But no sitting on our laurels!  We are aiming to be an ‘outstanding’ school!  Click here to see our latest Ofsted report.  Following Ofsted’s visit the Diocesan inspector reported that they too considered us a ‘good’ school, and ‘outstanding’ at “meeting the needs of all learners, through its distinctive Christian Character.” View the full report here.
